I have always thought, that one of the greatest mother daughter relationships ever portrayed is San and Moro in Princess Mononoke. It’s a fantastic cinematic portrayal of a mother’s love and protectiveness despite not being the biological mother, or even the same species for that matter. She’s the mother, guardian, protector. It’s a testament to Studio Ghibli and the vision of Hayao Miyazaki.
